Hi friends! Hope you all had such a good week and enjoyed literally the most amazing conference! This week was super long for me since I had to be quarantined in my apartment for 5 days, but we made it out!
Unique opportunities/miracles
So, while being in quarantine this week, we were calling through our progressing friends trying to teach them over the phone or through video chat the best we could. One day we were teaching our friend who lives here half the time and in México half the time. She's super sweet and has gone through a lot. During our lesson she asked if we would be willing to call her son and we said of course! She then preceded to tell us her son is in prison and won't be out anytime soon but needs to hear la palabra de Dios, so we said OK yes, he does. She gave him our number and he gave us a call. I have never instantly loved a person the way I love Ben. I could feel the love that Heavenly Father has for him. He has been through a lot in life but knows God exists. We have timed phone calls, so we teach him principles of the gospel instead of full lessons, but it has been so cool. He called yesterday and I asked him how he was doing, he said "Sister B I feel lighter, I slept so good last night, and I woke up with a smile on my face! Why sister b?" My heart was happy, and it was so cool being able to tell him that he had felt the spirit in our lesson the day before. He started to cry because he knew I was right and was so happy to know that HE could feel Gods love for him too. Ben is amazing and he has promised me that he will pray to feel God's love for the first time in his life. Ben is a child of God and our phone calls have taught me that every child of God deserves to feel loved NO matter the circumstance.
General conference
I absolutely love general conference! I learned so much from our incredible prophet as well as the other wonderful servants of God. I wanted to share some of my thoughts, and I'd love for any of you to share your thoughts with me! Some things that really stuck out to me were:
- BE KIND
- "Truth is critical for us to establish and strengthen our relationship with God, find peace and joy, and reach our divine potential." ~ Elder John C Pingree
- "Covenant belonging with God and each other can heal and sanctify us and our most cherished relationships." ~ Elder Gerritt W Gong
- "Jesus Christ came to lift us, he wants to help us." ~ Emily Belle Freeman
- "Want what the Savior wants." ~ Elder Henry B Eyring
- "The moment you decide to return and walk in the way of our Savior and Redeemer, His power will enter your life and transform it." ~ Elder Dieter F Uchtdorf
These were some of my favorite quotes along with many more! But I especially loved the talk from our beloved Prophet. In a world where there is so much darkness and twisted ideas, I love knowing that as we "Think Celestial' those dark and twisted ideas will be out of our mindset. I love the quote that the Prophet said about putting the Savior first. He said, "Put Jesus Christ first, because your eternal life is dependent upon your faith in Him and His atonement." I know this to be true with my whole heart. I am continuing to learn to put Jesus Christ first and I have already seen my faith grow as well as the atonement strengthen and lift me in my life. I know President Russell M Nelson is called of God. I know Jesus Christ lives and is my personal Savior. I love him with all my being and I'm super grateful to be able to wear his name on my chest but also my heart.
Jesus Christ loves you!
God is so good.
