Gracee's Mission Adventures: People need people

I am so thankful for my people. This week was a toughy.

Welp transfers happened woot woot! I am now in my 3rd to last transfer and just hit 14 months therefore I am OLD in the mission and it's crazy cuz i still feel so new and I have been given a new assignment being a sister assistant to the president which makes me feel even more new because all the things I'm doing are either really new or things I haven't done in a long time! So new new new. I moved to east Riverside and now serve in an English ward because the AP and SAP ward is now English. I also am with 3 comps. So, including me, we have 2 hermanas and 2 sisters and there always has to be a sister with an hermana for the Spanish people everywhere, and so we switch comps and just all work together! It's fun! New new new. It's been overwhelming but I'm learning to love it.

No more byes

I have been thinking a lot about the important people in my life and how much they have inspired me and made such a big impact on me and who I am today. Two of which have now finished their missions and headed home this past week. To say I was crying would be an understatement. It felt like hugging two more extra mom's goodbye again and it SUCKED. Hermana Haws was my trainer and altogether I got to serve with her for 5 months. She has helped shape me into the person I am today. I love her so very much and I'm so proud of her for finishing her mission. Hermana Church was my greeny breaker as well as one of my besties I've met on my mission. She has helped me become a better disciple of Jesus Christ with her leadership skills and training me up to be in the leadership positions I've held on my mission. I adore both of these humans so dang much! They are my people and I needed them out here and now I understand that other people need them home now. God needs them home now. I'm grateful that people need people. I love my people.

Ray

We have a really cool friend named Ray. He was found in downtown riverside a couple weeks ago with his son by the sisters and he came to church yesterday. Ray has had a rough life but is so excited to turn things around and find God. We were chattin it up after church and he said he loved church and wants this place to be where he goes with his son. I instantly loved Ray as soon as I met him. He was the sweetest human and was so happy to be in church. He was sad that he didn't have as nice of clothes as everyone so me and my comps decided we are going to get him a new shirt and tie that he can wear to church. Ah Ray is amazing. I'm so excited to see where he goes in life now that he's choosing good!

The pink bra

So, the APs had a baptism on Sunday and since we ward share, we got to go. The sweetest girl was getting baptized. Her name is Kamaria, and she is a single mom of 3 wild kids but is such a queen! The stupid elders forgot to tell her that she needs to wear white underneath her jumpsuit, so homegirl had a hot pink sports bra on so us sisters went to help. We didn't have much to help with, so sister holt (one of my comps) gave Kamaria her bra and just didn't wear one. It was literally the funniest thing ever. And the best part is that our mission President and his wife were there and after, Kamaria asked sister holt if she wanted her bra back and sister Hendrickson (mission pres wife) was right there and said, "she has your bra?" It was the funniest thing and sister Hendrickson started cracking up and making jokes. Basically, you gotta do what you gotta do to help a girl out.

Trust

This transfer I chose to work on trust as my Christlike attribute. Trusting in the Lord and his plan is so much easier said than done. I am so stubborn and it's something I'm working on so I can fully trust and have faith in the Lord, and I know he's working in the details and even though it's hard to see his hand sometimes, his fingerprints are everywhere. I love my Savior, I know he is working in the details of the details, and I know he is right by my side helping me carry my cross which is one he already carried. I love Him. I know Him. He lives.
